Holiday property rental - Basics

Like with any other contract, renting a holiday property comes with rights and obligations. Please find a brief summary below.

BOOKING

You will receive a booking confirmation with information about the deposit payment as soon as you have found and booked the right accommodation for you. The payment of the deposit is due within 7 days of the booking. Your booking is then binding.

DIRECTIONS TO YOUR ACCOMMODATION

On receiving the payment for the deposit, you will be sent the directions to your holiday accommodation or I will inform you about the location where I will meet you. In order to check your arrival times, please forward your flight details to me. Please contact me if a long delay is to be expected.

CHECKING-IN AND CHECKING-OUT AT THE PROPERTY

I am making every effort so that you can check-in at your accommodation immediately after your arrival. This is usually not an issue if the property was not rented out prior to your arrival. You will be handed the keys by me on receipt of the remaining payment.

The same goes for the check-out. You can use the property up until your departure if the property is not rented out immediately after you have left.

Arrival and departure times of guests do overlap occasionally and cleaning on departure does take some time too. The following applies in such cases:

Check-in at the property on arrival date: from 4 pm  Check-out at the property on departure date: by 10 am

BOOKING CANCELLATION

The following cancellation fees apply should you for any reason be unable to travel:

up to 2 months before arrival: 20% of the rent
up to 4 weeks before arrival: 50% of the rent
up to 2 weeks before arrival: 80% of the rent
from 7 days before arrival: 100% of the rent

The amount of the cancellation fee depends significantly on the receipt of your written cancellation (email, fax, mail). You can, of course, name a substitute tenant. We will only charge you for any actual costs incurred if we are able to rent the property out again for the time you had booked the property initially. I recommend to take out travel cancellation insurance, which will cover the costs when the worst comes to the worst.

AMENITIES IN THE ACCOMMODATION

Bed linen, towels, shower towels and tea towels are available in all properties. There is no cleaning of the rental property during your stay but this can be arranged for a fee if requested.

Toilet paper, washing-up liquid and washing detergent are not in the properties. You can buy those at your location at almost anytime.

Some of the properties provide more than the standard amenities. Bathrobes and beach towels are available in some of the properties. This is especially useful and saves a few kilos if you think of the strict luggage weight restrictions of some airlines.

SELECTING A PROPERTY

You should think about what is important and what you prefer during your stay before you book.

If it is peace and quiet you are after, then you should book a property in the countryside. It may be practical to hire a car in that case.

If you prefer to stay in a lively area, then it would be better to book a property in the centre of a location or directly at the beach. However, be aware that the nightlife there may occasionally disturb your sleep.

Whatever the property and location you decide to go for, most important is that you are happy and that your memories of Lanzarote remain unforgettable.
